The Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation awarded 60 scholarships totaling $29,450 for students enrolled in the College for Fall Semester 2023.

Of those, the Foundation awarded 32 Internal Tiger Campaign scholarships totaling $13,200. Internal scholarships are funded through contributions from the 十大网赌平台推荐 faculty and staff primarily through monthly payroll deductions to the Internal Fundraising Campaign. In addition, the Foundation awarded 28 external scholarships totaling $16,250. External scholarships are funded through contributions from business partners, foundations and generous donors within our service community as well as 十大网赌平台推荐 faculty and staff for program-specific scholarships not included in the Internal Tiger Campaign.

Scholarship applications for Spring Semester 2024 will be available online from September 1 to September 30 at http://v.locations-chalet-bernex.com/foundation/foundation-scholarships/.

The Tiger Campaign Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 textbook & toolbox scholarship for the purchase of program-required textbooks & tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. The Tiger Campaign Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition scholarship for a student in a certificate, diploma, or degree program at Southern Crescent Technical College. The Tiger Campaign GED/Advancement-to-College Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 textbook & toolbox scholarship awarded to a recent Southern Crescent Technical College GED graduate (completed within the last 12 months) who scored over 580 on the GED test (at least 145 each subject area) and who is enrolled in Southern Crescent Technical College. The scholarship is for the purchase of program-required textbook, tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. Applicant must provide a copy of the GED Test History from the Adult Ed Department. The Foundation awarded two $250 scholarships for a total of $500. The students receiving scholarships for Fall 2023 semester are:

The Tiger Campaign Top KATS (in memory of Kathy Pitts) Tuition Scholarship is a $900 tuition scholarship for a student who is not eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship, WIOA and/or the Pell Grant and/or any other financial aid. The Tiger Campaign Top KATS Tuition Scholarship is named in honor of the winning team for the Internal Tiger Campaign for Southern Crescent Technical College. The Foundation awarded eight $900 scholarships for a total of $7,200. The students receiving scholarships for Fall 2023 semester are:

The Dr. Alvetta Peterman Thomas and A.J. Thomas Memorial Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition scholarship for a student in a certificate, diploma, or degree program.  Dr. Thomas was President of Southern Crescent Technical College from 2016-2021 and took pride in building strong students, strong careers, and strong communities. Her husband, A.J., was a lifelong proponent of education who believed that education improved the quality of life for individuals and communities. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for Fall 2023 semester to:

The Becky Parris Rector Nursing Scholarship is a $300 tuition scholarship for a Nursing student that is a single parent.  Becky Parris Rector earned her ADN from a technical college while raising two children under the age of six. She sacrificed so much to stay in school while caring for her children and working part-time to make ends meet. Her degree enabled her to continually lift her family up and support them her entire career. The Foundation awarded one $300 scholarship for 2023 Fall semester to:

The Griffin Utility Club ASN Tuition, Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $500 tuition, textbook and toolbox scholarship for a female ASN student who is a Spalding County resident and enrolled in Southern Crescent Technical College. $250 of the funds will be applied to tuition, and $250 will be applied to the bookstore for course-required textbooks and/or tools. The Griffin Utility Club was a former service organization that supported the needs of Spalding County and especially the nursing needs. The Foundation awarded one $500 scholarship for 2023 Fall semester to:

The Justin Peeples Memorial Computer Information Systems Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 scholarship awarded to a student in the Computer Information Systems program for the purchase of program-required textbooks and tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies.   This scholarship was established in memory of Justin Peeples, a Computer Network Specialist student at Southern Crescent Technical College who died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 2011. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for 2023 Fall semester to:

The Lespedeza Fund Scholarship, honoring the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson, is a $1,100 tuition, textbook & toolbox need-based scholarship awarded to a first-generation student (defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a degree or any education beyond high school, and are the first in their family to attend college to attain a certificate, diploma or degree) enrolled in one of the following programs: Allied Health, Business Technology, Criminal Justice, Industrial Systems Technology, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The NBRC Respiratory Scholarship is a $500 tuition, textbook and toolbox scholarship awarded to a currently enrolled part-time or full-time Southern Crescent Technical College student in good academic standing in the Respiratory Care AAS Degree program of study. The Foundation awarded four $500 scholarships for a total of $2,000. The students receiving scholarships for Fall 2023 semester are:

The Penny Wilson “Flamingo” Scholarship is a $250 textbook & toolbox scholarship for a student in the Cosmetology program. Penny served the Griffin and surrounding communities for over 37 years with her wonderful laugh, heart of service and gift of making others not only look beautiful, but also feel beautiful. She was a graduate and recipient of the technical education here at our college, then Griffin Technical Institute. Penny had a passion not only for the beauty industry but for all who traveled her journey with her. Penny allowed herself and others to dream with their eyes wide open. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for Fall 2023 semester to:

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City Scholarship is a $250 textbook & toolbox scholarship for the purchase of program-related required textbooks & tools, uniforms, equipment, licensure examinations, and/or supplies for a student who lives in Fayette County and is enrolled in a certificate, diploma, or degree program.  The applicant must be a resident of Fayette County, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and be in good academic standing. The Foundation awarded two $250 scholarships for a total of $500. The students receiving scholarships for Fall 2023 semester are:

The 十大网赌平台推荐 Culinary Arts Advisory Committee Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to a student in the Culinary Arts program who has completed CUUL 1000, 1110, and 1120. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA cumulative average. The student must provide the name of an 十大网赌平台推荐 Culinary Arts instructor who will be contacted on his or her behalf for a letter of recommendation. The scholarship is for tuition and the purchase of program-required textbooks and tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. Once awarded, funds are split with $250 applied to tuition and $250 applied to textbook and toolbox expenses. The Foundation awarded one $500 scholarship for Fall 2023 semester to:

 

Adam Vann Culinary Arts Diploma

 

The Sara Jane Lofton Gatlin Nursing Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship ($500 for two semesters) for a student who has been accepted into the Practical Nursing Program or the Associate of Science Nursing Program.  In order for the student to receive the second semester $500 award, the student must have achieved a 2.5 GPA or higher for the semester of the first award.  The scholarship will allow the student to use the funds for tuition, textbooks, equipment, or a licensure examination.  Recipients must be a resident of Spalding, Upson, or Pike county. A 250-word essay on “The Role of Education in Changing My Life Circumstances” must accompany the scholarship application. The Foundation awarded one $1,000 scholarship, ($500 for 2023 Fall semester and $500 for 2023 Spring semester) to:

The Schyla Avery Memorial Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 scholarship awarded for students pursuing a degree in Respiratory Care. Established in memory of Schyla Nicole Avery, who received an AAS degree in Respiratory Care from the College, and died in a tragic house fire in 2011. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for Fall 2023 semester to:

The Shop with a Sheriff Tuition, Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $500 tuition, textbooks & toolbox scholarship for an 十大网赌平台推荐 student who is a Fayette County, Georgia resident. Half of the funds, $250, will be applied to tuition and $250 will be applied to the bookstore for course-required textbooks and/or tools. The Spalding County Pickleball Association Practical Nursing Tuition Scholarship is a $500 tuition scholarship awarded to a student in the Practical Nursing program. The Spalding County Pickleball Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization promoting and growing pickleball for the betterment of our community through active lifestyle, health & well-being, exercise and fitness, sports tourism, and economic impact. The Susan Elizabeth Pruett Memorial Accounting Textbook & Toolbox is a $250 scholarship for the purchase of program-required textbooks, tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. The Trevor Alexander Memorial Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition scholarship awarded to any student. This scholarship was established in memory of Trevor Alexander, an Assessment Specialist at the College, who died of cancer in August 2013.
